Dog The Bounty Hunter: To Seize And Protect

Official Synopsis:

Duane “Dog” Chapman is a bail jumper’s worst nightmare. When on the prowl with his tough-as-nails posse filled with family members and determined cohorts, no criminal is safe from this formidable force. Sensational, gripping, and always entertaining, Dog: The Bounty Hunter is real-life TV at its bone-bruising best. Dog: The Bounty Hunter — To Seize And Protect features eight favorite episodes from the top-rated A&E series.

Our Take:

Eight of the highest-rated episodes from one of the most successful series on A&E, Dog the Bounty Hunter: To Seize and Protect delivers gritty bounty hunter action with touching, life-changing situations — with an end result that is highly respectable. A transformed criminal-to-bounty-hunter, mullet-donning bad ass named Dog hunts down some of the most wanted fugitives he can find and tries to instill some useful motivation into their minds before it truly is too late for them. Don’t get me wrong, though, Dog is nonchalantly hilarious just to observe in his everyday demeanor, just being as bad ass as he is.

Without the use of any actual firearms, Dog and his family-composed crew of bounty hunters and their associates take to the streets and round up some dangerous criminals, but the criminals always seems to fall for Dog and his religious talk and after a couple laughs with the blond-locked beast, you find yourself halfway into the next episode.

Special Features:

Unfortunately, there are no additional features to the DVD besides the episodes themselves, but I really don’t think we need behind-the-scenes Dog anyway. I mean, it is “reality” TV, right? The only noticeable negative (lack of) feature was that you can’t choose to watch all of the episodes in succession, automatically. There’s no “play all” feature on the main menu, so you have to click play after each episode ends to watch the next one. Thankfully, the DVD automatically scrolls down to the next episode in line after you watch the previous one.

Conclusion:

If you’re a fan of the Dog on cable, it’s a no-brainer that Dog the Bounty Hunter: To Seize and Protect is for you. If you like the Fox show COPS, Dog and his partners are quite similar, although each show carries more of a story line and you meet a lot of the Dog’s family in each episode.
