Mist: The Tale Of A Sheepdog Puppy

Official Synopsis:

Mist is one of three pups born at Borough Farm. From the moment that she opens her eyes, her dream is to become a real sheepdog. But things are not as easy as she might have hoped. Training with the boss is confusing, and then there’s a bunch of gruff and grumpy rams to deal with, and an auntie who may not always have her best interests at heart. Can Mist really learn her craft and one day prove herself worthy of a place in the team of sheepdogs at Borough Farm?

Our Take:

If you like sappy, “heartwarming” tales of friendship and working together (and lots of cute animals), then you’re sure to love Mist: The Tale of a Sheepdog Puppy. The story starts out with Mist as a young pup, and as she grows she learns lots of valuable life lessons. What makes Mist different is that the animals aren’t trained to act out dumb scenarios. All of the footage features the dogs in their “natural” state. While I’m sure the dogs were coerced into some scenes, for the most part its the dogs acting as they would be normally.

Apparently, Mist: The Tale of a Sheepdog Puppy has become something of a phenomenon in its native UK, even spinning off into a regular series, which makes the lack of any extra features on the DVD a bit baffling.

Kids are sure to enjoy the interaction amongst the animals as well as the sharp and snappy dialogue. Adults will have a harder time staying interested, but still, Mist: the Tale of a Sheepdog Puppy provides a nice story that the whole family can enjoy with each other.
