Official Synopsis: Let Comedy Central be your "gateway" to comedy! The best of our most "experimental" shows are now available in this must-own collection that's sure to bring all your buds together - and by buds, we mean friends. (Really). Just don't be surprised when you find yourself up at 3 a.m. eating raw cookie dough in your parents' kitchen. Our Take: What a freaking joke. I mean, this must be a joke. This DVD is plagued with enough dumb drug references in both the title of the disc and the menus on the disc that this must be some sort of stoner joke. Because there is no other way that Comedy Central’s Home Grown is in any way an acceptable product to sell. So, that leaves joke, right?
All that this disc is is a sampler. That’s right; you know how Best Buy or whatever store gives out free discs with the purchase of other DVD’s that showcase some of a network’s best shows? That’s what this is; except it’s not free…they’re trying to charge you money for it. *cough* SCAM *cough*. Don’t be fooled and definitely don’t buy it.
The content is basically all good-to-great stuff, but the problem is no one in their right mind would ever just want to buy one random episode from a mish mash of shows on the same disc. They’ll want the full season. I understand what the purpose of this disc is, to get viewers to branch out into other shows, what I don’t get is how it’s not free. It’s very not okay to be selling this. It’s just wrong.
Despite having The Sarah Silverman Program, TV Funhouse, Strangers With Candy, Root Of All Evil, Reno 911!, Chappelle’s Show, Drawn Together, Crank Yankers and Viva Variety (amongst other lesser things), stay away from Comedy Central’s Home Grown at all costs. I’m only trying to save you money here.
Overall Picture: Movie: D DVD: F (for charging for it)
