Our Take:

I would hedge a guess that most Americans don’t even know what is occurring in the Sudan.  Maybe they watched the episode of “Seventh Heaven” where they met the “Lost Boys,” like I had.  It’s like a vague history class, or a question on “Jeopardy!”  It’s abstract and far away and not anything we encounter in our daily lives.

Darfur Now
is a heart-wrenching look at what is happening today half a world away. This is not a Hollywood Blockbuster.  It is not the creation of some writer’s mind.  It is true.  It is real.  It is not a nightmare that these people will wake from.  What is happening to the people of Darfur is tragic and violent.  Hundreds of thousands have been killed already and millions have been forced to flee their homes.

Darfur Now, for all its despair, gives a voice to these people and the tragedy they face daily.  Their cries for help are being heard.  People like Don Cheadle and the other five people whose stories are told here are giving them hope and a voice to invoke change.

Extra features on the DVD include:

* Introduction and Commentary by Writer/Director Theodore Braun.

* Additional Scenes – (30 minutes).

Darfur Now educates and inspires and should be shown to every human with an ounce of compassion.  We can all make a difference.  Genocide should not be allowed.  This movie isn’t easy to watch but it will make you think.
