Our Take:
The Hammer is a movie where, if Adam Carolla had been a big name star like Will Ferrell, it would have been in theaters in a heartbeat. The movie has kind of a silly premise but despite it all Carolla manages to carry this film to great lengths and keeps me laughing aloud the entire time.

I bring up Will Ferrell for no other reason than to say that this movie could have been a huge hit in theaters. And while Carolla is a lesser name (and someone most of us guys have loved since The Man Show) he isn’t enough to convince the studios to put out a movie about him playing an aging boxer who’s giving a last shot at getting into the 2008 Olympics.

Whenever I look at Carolla, all I can think about is how un-athletic he looks. He’s a slouch, slow moving, and just kind of doofy in general. Then I come to learn that in actuality he was a Golden Gloves slugger before he ever entertained us as a TV personality. Who knew?

Special features include:

* Deleted Scenes (9 minutes).

* Outtakes (5 minutes).

* Commentary by Actor/Writer/Executive Producer Adam Carolla and Writer/Co-Producer Kevin Hench.

* A Conversation With Adam & Ozzie (17 minutes) – Adam and his onscreen sidekick have a chat.

* Behind-The-Scenes Promotional Segments (10 minutes) – Six short segments.

* Ozzie’s ADR Session (2 minutes) – The guy can barely talk, it’s pretty ridiculous.

I went into The Hammer fairly excited to see Adam Carolla again after all these years but I came out of it realizing that he is way funnier than I ever gave him credit for. Carolla carries this movie with ease and it’s a must watch for everyone out there.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
