They found a new world... and an ancient evil. Adrian Paul From TV's Highlander Stars In A Tale Of Unspeakable Terror Inspired By History's Most Tantalizing Mystery. "Save your soul before they take it from you." Beside the body of a dead soldier, these words are written in blood, in the ancient language of the Vikings. But what does the warning mean? Adrian Paul of TV's Highlander fame stars in this pulse-pounding, action/horror film packed with terrifying special effects and inspired by history's most tantalizing unsolved mystery. In 1587, over 100 brave men and women set sail from Britain to establish the first English colony in the Americas. They landed on Roanoke Island off the coast of Virginia. They built a settlement and planted crops. And then they disappeared - without a trace...

Our Take:
I’ve always been fascinated by modern myths and legends. Things such as Bigfoot, the Loch Ness Monster, crop circles, Stonehenge, Easter Island… I don’t know if I have any theories or believe in any of these things as being supernatural, but I’ve always been interested in them. Anyone who follows these myths and legends such as myself, then, is surely familiar with the legend of Roanoke Island, the settlement off the coast of Virginia that saw over 100 settlers disappear without a trace in the 16th century.

Lost Colony: The Legend of Roanoke is the Sci Fi Channel’s answer to the mystery. Well, it’s not an answer really, since this is a completely fictional tale, but it uses the mystery as the basis for a surprisingly watchable low-budget horror flick. Starring Highlander’s Adrian Paul, the movie explores what supernatural happenings may have led to the disappearance of all the settlers, and while it’s not particularly highbrow or original, it’s fairly entertaining. There are some decent action sequences and some not-terrible-looking things that go bump in the night, and the end result is a movie that’s satisfying if you’re the type of person who generally likes what Sci Fi has to offer.

There are a no extra features included on the DVD.

Lost Colony: The Legend of Roanoke is a cheap, dirty little movie, and I mean that in a good way. It’s not going to satisfy hard core horror fans, but those of you who just enjoy a little supernatural mystery once in while should find something to like.
