Official Synopsis: Based on the book from award-winning author Janette Oke comes the next chapter of the Love series and introduces audiences to the new generation when Missie's daughter Belinda struggles with her dreams of becoming a doctor and her feelings for a newcomer in town. Our Take: Love’s Unfolding Dream is another nice, family-friendly movie with plenty of spiritual overtones and underlying moral messages. The acting is a little better than the chapter before this, which made it a more enjoyable movie to watch.
Although Love’s Unfolding Dream still reminds me a lot of the series that Director Michael Landon Jr.’s father starred in – Little House on the Prairie – decades ago, it’s still a heart-warming story of how faith, hard work and determination can bring the American Dream within reach. This time, though, the writers take a number of easy shortcuts to advance the plot, which I wish they hadn’t because the film could have been so much better given the improved acting quality. But, even if the script is weakly crafted, the plot is strong and the movie segues nicely from scene to scene. It’s probably picky of me to want writers to take pride in their work and make a show sing instead of hum.
There are no extras included with the DVD (unless you count two trailers as extras).
Landon Jr. continues to build a body of works for his family audience and anyone who has enjoyed the earlier shows in the Love series will enjoy Love’s Unfolding Dream. The content is suitable for all audiences and is definitely worth the money.
