Our Take: I understand the fact that I’m not the target audience for it, but I really don’t get the whole Hannah Montana phenomenon. I’ve seen a number of different Disney Channel original shows and for the most part I can enjoy all of them on some level or another. But Hannah Montana leaves me cold. It’s just not even funny.
Of course, this isn’t a Hannah Montana review, so what’s my point? My point is that The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, I get. This is a funny show. It’s aimed squarely at the exact same audience as Hannah Montana, but this show actually has funny jokes, likable (and believable) characters and situations, and is pretty wholesome to boot. Dylan and Cole Sprouse (adults will remember them as Adam Sandler’s kid in Big Daddy) have terrible hair but good sitcom acting chops and the supporting cast of characters (which includes High School Musical’s Ashley Tisdale) are funny too. The show’s humor isn’t geared for grown ups, but it’s clever enough that I find myself laughing more often than not.
The Suite Life of Zack & Cody: Lip Synchin' In The Rain is the show’s third collection on DVD. Like the previous two volumes, it includes four episodes and just a smattering of extra features. They are:
* Twin-Tastic - Get the scoop on everything "twins." * Gag Reel.
The Suite Life of Zack & Cody is a show made for kids, but it’s of high enough quality that the adults who have to watch it with their kids can at least chuckle along. I’m happy just to understand why kids like it, which is something I can’t say for Hannah Montana.
Overall Picture: Show: B+ DVD: C+
