Robert A. Jones, age 83, of Hillsdale, passed away Saturday, October 31, 2009, at the Hillsdale Community Health Center. He was born August 1, 1926 in Toledo, Ohio to William and Nina (Rutledge) Jones. He was married December 5, 1948 to Betsy Boyd and she survives.

Robert retired from Allied Products in 1989 after over 30 years of service. He was a graduate of Waldron High School in 1944. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during WWII. Robert was a member of the Pittsford Congregational Church, Pittsford Lions Club and the Hillsdale American Legion. He was an avid woodworker leaving all his family with personal mementos including toys for grandchildren and cutting boards from wood all over the world. Bob was an avid fisherman and he loved the water whether it was on the lake here in Michigan or the ocean when they wintered in Florida.

Surviving besides his wife Betsy are four daughters, Susan Moore (Jim) Watson of Pittsford, Deborah (Doug) Scharp of Adrian, Nina (Bruce) Draper of Osseo, and Roberta (Ed) Armbruster of Grand Rapids; a sister Evelyn (Russell) Brubaker of St. Petersburg, Florida; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Calvin and son-in-law Patrick Moore.

Memorial services for Robert Jones will be Wednesday, November 4, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Congregational Church of Pittsford with Pastor Terry Bobzien officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Parkinson's Association, the First Congregational Church of Pittsford, Building Fund, or the Waldron District Library.
