William F. Lowe, 94, of North Adams, passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at his home. He was born March 14, 1915 in Butler, Indiana to Melva and Dessie (Rummel) Lowe. He was married August 28, 1968 to Virginia (Roberts) Hepker and she survives.
William retired from the Hillsdale County Road Commission after more than 30 years of service. William was an active member of the Wheatland Congregational Church and a member of the Hillsdale County Farm Bureau.
Surviving besides his wife Virginia are six daughters, Ireta (Richard) Olsen of Grand Rapids, Pauline (John) Donaldson of Rustburg, Virginia, Janice Stuck of Auburn Hills, Virginia Cunningham and Betty La Follette, both of Pittsford, and Barbara (Keith) Davis of Brentwood, Tennessee; two sons, Dale (Jean) Lowe of Charlotte and Elvin (Phyllis) Hepker of Manistique; 35 grandchildren; 73 great- grandchildren and 23 great great-grandchildren; three sisters, Virginia Demorest and Annabel Pocock, both of Angola, Indiana, and Phyllis Nall of Knoxville, Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Leo and Gene, six brothers, and a sister.
Funeral services for William Lowe will be Monday, November 2, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale with Rev. Clyde Wonders officiating. Interment will follow at Churches Corners Cemetery in Wheatland Township. The family will receive friend for visitation Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Wheatland Congregational Church or Hospice of Hillsdale County.
