Itinerary
Day 1: Board our transatlantic flight to MUNICH, GERMANY.

Day 2: Arrival in MUNICH. A short drive into the ALPS brings us to RUHPOLDING in the heart of the mountains. This will be our home for the next week. We'll spend a relaxing afternoon in this beautiful village.
Day 3: MUNICH'S OKTOBERFEST!!! After a tour of the "Alte Stadt", the OLD CITY we go out to the "Wies'n", the Meadow, for the best party in all of Europe! The parades, the oom-pah bands, the tents, the music, the festival and the "Gemütlichkeit!" We will experience it all.

Day 4: The day begins with a "walk to the sky" along one of the area's beautiful mountain paths. This afternoon we cross Lake Chiemsee by ship for a visit to one of "Mad" King Ludwig's masterpieces, the Castle Herrenchiemsee. This grand palace is a copy of Versailles near Paris, but set on a lovely small island with the Alps in the background.

Oktoberfest Central!

Day 5: Into the BAVARIAN NATIONAL PARK today to visit BERCHTESGADEN. We'll spend time exploring this stunning village and later take an unforgettable ride up to the mountain top to visit the KEHLSTEIN, Hitler's fabled Eagles Nest of World War II.

Day 6: Today we'll visit the town of Traunstein, the site of the TRAUNSTEIN HOFBRÄU BREWERY. A tour and beer tasting will acquaint us with the fine art of brewing this world-famous beer. This afternoon we will visit the town and enjoy the liveliness and music of the local Oktoberfest.

Day 7: Southwest today into the German Alps to visit GARMISCH, site of the Winter Olympics of 1936. One of the most famous winter resorts in the world, Germany's highest peak, the ZUGSPITZE, dominates the skyline. Across the river is lovely PARTENKIRCHEN, the high point of the German Alpine Road.

Day 8: Transfer to the Munich Airport this morning for our flight back to the USA.
