Sardinia, Italy.....
In the 1950s, as a result of agricultural development plans, a vast area of land used only for sheep farming was improved and granted to farm laborers. Following the settling of families on diverse plots, an experiment was started in order to individualize the cultivation that was most adapted to the climate and soil. The favorable compatibility of the area for high quality viticulture was discovered immediately.
The soils, situated in the splendid setting in the area between the Gulf of Alghero and the Porto Conte Bay, were an excellent partner. Their particular characteristics, cleverly exploited by the clever work of the wine-growers allowed an immediate production of excellent quality that gained approval on the market from the very first years. The wine production grew in the local area and throughout the whole island. The attained success motivated the farmers to found the Wine Growers Association right in the center of the production site, in the area of Santa Maria La Palma, from which it took its name.
“Le Bombarde” is overflowing with fruit character: plums, red berries, and prunes. It’s rich and delightful and it beautifully sets off all sorts of decadent, meaty cuisines.
