The New Jersey Foster Care Scholars Program Celebrates Six Years of Success!
The New Jersey Foster Care (NJFC) Scholars Program closes its sixth successful year this month. Although the program was signed into existence in 2003, its first sizable student population occurred during the fall 2004 semester. Since then, 78 students have completed degree or certificate programs as NJFC Scholars at accredited colleges, universities, and trade/career schools. The 2008-2009 academic year resulted in 29 graduates, the most in any single year of the program. Foster & Adoptive Family Services would like to congratulate those graduates and encourage its current NJFC Scholars in the pursuit of their goals. For more information about the NJFC Scholars Program, please call 1.800.222.0047 and ask for the Scholarship Department or send an email: scholarships@fafsonline.org

If you are not already a participant in your school’s Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) program you could be missing out on additional support. EOF… “provides financial assistance and support services (e.g. counseling, tutoring, developmental course work) to students from educationally and economically disadvantaged backgrounds who attend institutions of higher education in the State of New Jersey.” This statement was taken from the EOF Website. For more information about EOF at your school please visit their website or for a list of EOF Directors in NJ please click on the attached pdf file.
