PACCAL honors Filipino American women achievers

FILIPINO American women in America, in particular in New Jersey, have seized the opportunity that is offered by our newly adopted country. They have made recognizable achievements in their fields of endeavors.

On March 31, PACCAL honored Women of Achievements.

Lani M. Alison, RN, BSN, Vice-President of Quality Improvement at Healthfirst Management Services in New York City.

Alison was awarded the Best New Investigator Poster Presentation for her work in evaluating the compliance of patients with antidepressants by the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research in Barcelona Spain in 2003.

Miss Alison was Mrs. Philippine-American Performing Arts, Inc. (PAPI). She is also a board of Director of PAPI and Iloilo Society of American, Inc. In 2006 she was awarded Most Outstanding Graduate of University of San Pedro, Davao City, Philippines. She was also a recipient of the 2006 Dangal ng Lahi Award for health care from NAFFAA.

Concepcion Cacnio, First Jersey City Filipino American Policewoman was inducted to the Jersey City Police Dept. last December 2006. She is currently assigned in the South District.

Cacnio has a Bachelor ‘s Degree in Journalism from the University of Santo Thomas. Later she came back to Jersey City and worked as Editor for the Filipino Express, a Jersey City-based Philippine weekly newspaper. She also worked in the Special Sections editor of the Jersey Journal while writing freelance with various publications. She also worked as a volunteer journalist for PACCAL.

Seny Solomon-Lipat, is a graduste of the University of the East College of Nursing(UERM), Manila, and has a Master of Arts in Nursing Education degree from Columbia University.

She was Director healthcare Programs, Holy Infant Jesus Foundation and Institute, Inc. Director, Practical Nursing Program, Microtech Training Center, Education Consultant, CGFNS/NCLEX RN Reviewer, Global Professional Resources Ltd., Associate Professor. Union County College, Cranford, NJ Faculty, Trinitas School of Nursing (Formerly Elizabeth General Medical Center) , Nursing Education Coordinator, St. Elizabeth Hospital, Elizabeth New Jersey.

Rosario Enriquez Magno, is President of RODEM International, Inc. TShe is a successful business entrepreneur of 43 years in the field of Shipping, Fishing, Trucking, Warehousing and Personnel Services such as permanent, temporary staffing as well as Try and Hire.

She has a Masters of Business Administration(MBA) from Lyceum of the Philippines and a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Mapua Institute of Technology, Philippines.

Mrs. Magno oversees the three different branches of RODEM International located in Las Vegas, Nevada, Hackensack, New Jersey, Jersey City, NJ.

She has received the Queen of Queens Award, Golden Heart Award, Appreciation for Good Community Service by the Philippine Nurses Association of Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Emi Villanueva, an active senior community leader is feisty and a woman of action. She was the past president of Senior Club, Inc. for eight consecutive years.

Her senior organizations had organized monthly social and recreational activities. This includes dinner dances, picnics and field trips.

By connecting her organization with city officials, she is constantly up-to-date with new legislations affecting seniors like the New Medicare Part D Prescription Plan.

Mrs. Villanueva is a retired teacher.
