The Philippine Fiesta In America Excitement Reaches The Homelands!
Philippine Officials And Exhibitors To Participate

It is a way of creating ripples across great distances. When there appears an opportunity to market to a high profile segment in the United States, smart businesspeople heed the call – particularly if that market segment comprises their own countrymen. As word of the Philippine Fiesta in America – a two-day showcase of Philippine heritage, culture and trade - began to spread, industry players from the Philippine islands took notice and will head to the Meadowlands Exposition Center in Secaucus, New Jersey this year on August 18-19 to take part in the most exciting trade fair catering to the largest gathering of Filipinos in the East Coast.

This year, more than 80 exhibitors from the Philippines (among over 180 current exhibitors), have registered for a spot at the Philippine Fiesta, which aims to promote Philippine trade and commerce in the United States. These business savvy organizations hail from the different regions of the Philippine Islands: Central Luzon (33), Metro Manila (32 – with 10 coming from the model city of Marikina), Mindanao (5), Calabarzon (5), Cebu (5) and Mindanao (3). Each of these exhibitors eagerly await the Fiesta in order to proudly exhibit the best in Filipino products and services brought straight from the homelands.

A vast array of Philippine products, exotic, rare & unique, will be prominently showcased and sold at the Philippine Fiesta. These include: elegant Barong Tagalogs and Jusi gowns; masterfully wrought handicrafts and shell fashion crafts; finely made leathergoods – including the world-famous shoes and bags from Marikina, Bulacan and Laguna; exquisite native garments; decorative furniture; beautiful marine products from the vibrant Philippine waters; home and christmas decors worthy of becoming lifetime keepsakes; fashionable cosmetics, hats and jewelries; delicate ceramics; radiant bridal gowns and accessories, and of course, the booming real estate investment properties. Participation of the Central Luzon exhibitors is themed “Likha Ng Central Luzon Goes to America”.

The endeavors of the Philippine Fiesta have been lauded by no less than the Philippine Department of Trade and Industry (PDTI). In support of the event, the PDTI has arranged for Business Matching Meetings to be conducted right after the Fiesta. These meetings will provide a timely opportunity for exhibitors and institutional buyers to network with the aim of generating mutually profitable business relationships. This post-Fiesta event was made possible by the close collaboration of the very energetic Miss Josephine Romero, Philippine Department of Trade and Industry newly appointed Commercial Attache for New York, with the Philippine Fiesta’s Executive Vice President for Marketing, Mila Mendez. Ms. Romero and Ms. Mendez envision the activity as an enabler for Philippine exhibitors to market to institutional buyers, thereby adding to their consumer base. The Business Matching Meetings will be held at the PDTI office at the Philippine Center in New York. The business mathing meetings will be capped by a Philippine Fiesta-sponsored cocktail reception for the Philippine exhibitors and the buyers.

Notable participants expected to be present in the affair include Central Luzon Investment Coordinating Council Region 3 (CLICC), comprising 22 companies from the 5 provinces of Central Luzon - Aurora, Bataan, Bulacan, Pampanga, Tarlac and Zambales - and 15 more independent producers from same region; Association of producers of Herbal Products; Marikina Trade Mission; Fashion accessories manufacturers from Cebu; and Departmet of Trade and Industry Members from Zamboanga. The participation of CLICC members has been coordinated through the able leadership of the PDTI Region 3 (Central Luzon) Regional Director Blesila Lantayona and PDTI Region 3 Coordinator, Miss Digna Romero.

Gracing the events with their distinguished presence are the Honorable Governor Bellaflor Angara-Castillo of Aurora Province and chairperson of the Central Luzon Investment Coordinating Council; the Honorable Governor Joselito R. Mendoza of Bulacan; and, the Honorable Mayor Marides Fernando of Marikina. These hardworking officials, dedicated to the spirit of propelling Philippine business forward in the global market, will lead their contingents to attend both the Philippine Fiesta and the PDTI Business Matching Meetings in New York. Several Philippine government officials were invited and are expected to attend this prestigious event.
