Workforce Training
Training is an investment in your company's success. Northeast Iowa Community College coordinates training for companies throughout Northeast Iowa. There are state programs that are administered by the college that can dramatically reduce a companies training costs.

The Iowa Jobs Training Program (260 F):
The Iowa Jobs Training Program is designed to foster the growth and competitiveness of Iowa's business and industry, ensuring that Iowa's workforce has the skills and expertise to compete by funding customized training for current employees. NICC assists businesses with the development of training programs that are funded by forgivable loans. The maximum award is $25,000 for each project at a business site.

The Iowa New Jobs Training Program (260 E):
The Iowa New Jobs Training Program is designed to assist businesses that are creating new jobs. New Jobs Training can provide flexible funding to meet the wide variety of training and employee development needs of companies that are expanding operations or locating a new facility in the state. The assistance available ranges from highly specialized educational programs to basic skill training for new positions.

NICC issues training certificates (bonds) to pay for the project costs. These training certificates are repaid by diverting 1.5 or 3% (based on wage levels) of the increased payroll withholding tax revenues resulting from the creation of the new jobs, so there is no direct training cost to the company. Training can be provided by NICC, local colleges or private contractors.
