Interview Tips to Ace the Interview

Interviewing isn't much different from studying for and passing a test. The more time you put into preparing and not worrying the better the result! Find a good book on interviewing (such as Adams Job Interview Almanac) which lists interview questions by type of job and industry, and shows examples of effective answers. Use these answers as a starting point to determine your own responses, and then practice, practice, practice! Need interview coaching? Click here.
Do Your Homework
Research the company before the interview - you will want to know how you will meet the company's needs. This is critical to answering the question, "Why should I hire you?" Become familiar with the company's products or services, number of years in business, latest development in the news, and future goals (if possible). The Internet has a number of good websites to obtain this information (hoovers.com, vault.com, and the search engine Infoseek). You can also check to see if the company maintains its own website.

Logistics
When you schedule the appointment for the interview, be sure to find out the interviewer's name and title. You may discover that there will be more than one person interviewing you! Ask for company literature and study it. What kind of image is the company trying to project? Do you think you will fit in? You will also want to obtain the written job description. It will arm you with the information to answer interview questions expertly - hitting the "target". And by all means, get directions and parking information!

A little preparation will go far in easing some of your anxiety - and just might make the difference in your performance at the interview.
