The course covers many aspects of marine biology.
We study fish and invertebrate identification, coral reef ecology, and animal behavior.
This Adventure Friday class meets at Kahalu'u Beach Park on four alternate Fridays per Quarter.
We make weather and tide observation on land. Students then learn to identify fish and observe their behavior while snorkeling. We will study invertebrates in the tides pools if the tide is low during our class.
The students then meet as a group to discusses their observations, sharing interesting sightings and make inferences about what they have seen.
Through this class, the students gain a personal perspective of a coral reef. They develop their observational skills and make biological connections over an extended period of time.
