PAINT THE SAINT Some say Paint was just a horse But we know he was much more than that His character proved that he was noble And so he deserved every loving pat. To us he was more than a trusty steed He was worthy to be called a king Each precious moment spent in his presence To us much joy he surely did bring. Grooming and caring for his every need How can we explain the bond we had We thought it would go on forever When it ended so quickly we were oh so sad. Candace and Paint ran wild and free Like only a fearless young girl can do He knew just how to thrill her Without scaring her too much to. Kathy truly fell in love with Paint Right from the very start He won her heart with his kindness And she thought he was pretty darn smart.

Gus always knew that Paint was perfect He watched as his two girls grew It amazed him that he became so attached It seemed like Paint was the family glue.
The last sun has set on Paint’s days And our days with him were way to short We will always remember his friendly nicker And the way he made that funny snort.
Through natural horsemanship we found a way To understand many things about Paint Because of his patience and forgiveness He certainly should be deemed a saint.
So our hats are off to you Paint Because you were not just a horse You were our friend and teacher We will always love and miss you, of course.
