How Do We Learn?

Rather than an article this is more like notes taken from my many years of experience teaching in the public schools and now transferring it to teaching people about horses.

... 1. Reading
* EARS 2. Listening
* MIND 3. Thinking/Remembering
* BODY 4. Modeling/Imitating
* EYES 5. Observing
* MOUTH 6. Talking/Sharing
* HANDS 7. Doing
* IMAGINATION 8. Curiosity

You must ACTIVELY PARTICIPATE with ENERGY and CURIOSITY to LEARN!

ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!

1. Don’t think about the things you can’t do. Think about the things you can do.
2. No matter what the level of your ability is you have more potential than you can ever develop in a lifetime.
3. You have powers you never dreamed of.
4. You can do things you never thought you could do!
5. There are no limitations to what you can do except the limitation of your own mind.
6. Your desires are the precursors of the things, which you are capable of doing.
7. Weak desires will bring you weak results,
Just as a small about of fire makes a small amount of heat
8. Desire is the starting point for success.
9. All of your dreams can come true, if you have the courage to pursue them.
10. Commitment, Consistency, Persistence, and Perspiration will transform your possibilities into reality.

HOW DO LEARNERS FEEL?
1. Bored/Curious
2. Apprehensive/Enthusiastic
3. Rebellious/Willing
4. Embarrassed/Confident
5. Confused/Clear
6. Scared/Safe
7. Blamed/Rewarded
8. Tired/Energized
9. Pressured/Allowed
10. Forced/Directed

IT IS NECESSARY TO GET OUT OF OUR COMFORT ZONE TO LEARN, OTHERWISE WE ARE SIMPLY PRACTICING WHAT WE ALREADY CAN DO!

COMMUNICATION IS THE KEY TO LEARNING!

Definition of communication – 2 or more individuals understanding an idea.

LEARNING = UNDERSTANDING COMMUNICATION!

How do we communicate?
1. Sounds
2. Sights
3. Touch
4. Smells
5. Taste
6. Expression
7. Motion/directing
8. Guide/ Lead
9. Pressure/release
10. Punishment/reward
