About Us

Highland, owned and operated by Mike and Cindy McElroy, has been a home away from home for Alzheimer and memory loss residents for more than thirty years. Our location at Exit 138 on I-94 makes it easy for quick visits.

Alzheimer’s, dementia, and other memory loss residents receive personalized care in a well decorated home like environment that is specifically focused upon providing comfort and sensory stimulation in ways that respect individual dignity. The Highland staff is specifically trained to provide assisted living care for Alzheimer’s and memory loss residents.

Highland residents enjoy home cooked meals in a beautiful home like setting, are regular visitors to the Sensations Garden and appreciate the colorful birds fluttering about in the mini aviary in our living room.

Our full time activities director provides individual and group activities as well as entertainment events such as musicians and story tellers. We are especially proud of our recently initiated annual Celebration of Life which is a very special day for our residents and their families.

Highland also provides much needed "family breaks and get-aways" with its Adult Day Care, overnight respite and longer temporary stays for Alzheimer’s and memory loss individuals. Our staff extends the same care and services as enjoyed by our permanent assisted living residents.
