Bancroft Park: Located in Bancroft 4 bl. S of 1st Nat'l Bank 2 bl. W. Featuring new playground equipment and tank donated by American Legion. Campers welcome, hook-ups available. Please register at Ru-de's Mart. One park with picnic tables, shelters and ball fields.
Beck Memorial Park and Mike Farber Memorial Park: Overlooking the Missouri Rivber, the Beck Memorial Park in Decatur features overnight camping, electrical hook-ups, cooking facilities, restrooms and a free boat ramp. Both parks are located on the bank of the Missouri River just south of the famous Dry Land Bridge. Beck Memorial Park: E. 13th to 3rd Ave. to 11th St., 14 spaces, 23 tents spaces available. Black Elk-Neihardt Park: It is located on the highest hill overlooking Blair, just off of Hwy 75. The park derives its name from Black Elk, a Lakota Sioux Indian chief whom John G. Neihardt, Nebraska's Poet Laureate in Perpetuity, wrote in his epci Black Elk Speaks. The park has 1.6 miles of paved walking trails, with plans underway to add a new stretch that will make the total five miles in length. Throughout the park are reminders of the vision of Black Elk, including the Tower of Four Winds, a 45 foot tall cross featuring a mosaic composed of approximately 50,000 pieces. Smaller mosaics are located throughout the park. Black Elk-Neihardt Park is one of three arboretums located in Blair. The others include Ralph Steyer Park and the grounds of Arbor Park Middle School.
Cottonwood Cove: Located at 13th and Hickory Street on the Missouri River in Dakota City, offering a variety of amenities. Included at the park are a boat ramp and parking; RV camping and utility hookups; picnic tables and shelters; playground equipment; and an interpretive overlook at the Missouri River. The park hosts an annual Chevy Fest in August. 402-987-3448. 6 spaces and 6 tent spaces available.
Crystal Cove: It is located at the intersection of Highways 20 and 77. This facility, which is managed by the NRD and City of South Sioux City, has a boat ramp for fishing boats (no motors allowed); swimming beach; picnic areas; one mile paved walking/jogging/bike trail; good fishing in a well-stocked lake; an abundance of plant and wildlife species to observe.
Island Park Campgrounds: Located in Lyons 1 mi. W of Main St. and Hwy 77. 402-687-4188; Fax: 402-687-4112. 14 pull through spaces available. Open April 15 - October 15.
Lyons Public Park: Located in Lyons at West end of Main Street.
Oakland Park: Nebraska's second oldest, continually-operated non-metro swimming pool. Located SW edge of city on Hwy 32. 401 N. Oakland Ave. Fax: 402-685-5822. 6 spaces available. Open April 1 - November 1.
Optimist's Boat Ramp: A public boat ramp with access to the Missour River, it is located about one mile from Hwy 75. Other camping facilities in Blair include the city campgrounds at Hwy 75 and Nebraska St., with electrical hook-ups, access to water, a shower and dumping station.
Pelican Point State Recreation Area: It is located 10 mi. northeast of Tekamah and operated by the Nebraska Game and Park Commission. It is a Missouri River access area with camping.
Scenic Park: Located at 4th and D St. in South Sioux City along the Missouri River front. This park, which is very busy throughout much of the year, includes playground areas; picnic tables and shelters; city aqua play park; tent and RV camping, with utility hook-ups and bathhouse; ball diamonds and soccer field; hiking/biking trail; and a boat ramp and parking.
Summit Lake State Recreation Area: It is located between the Burt County towns of Herman and Tekamah, 4 mi. SW of Tekamah. This 190 acre spring-fed lake is operated by Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. It is stocked with a variety of fish, and features camping facilities, a sandy beach for swimming, boat ramp, fishing and hiking trails.
Tekamah's Recreational facilities: Tekamah has more than 60 acres of city parks with playground equipment, baseball diamonds, swimming pools, volleyball court, picnic shelters, horseshoe pits, camper pads, hook-ups, and dump stations. Tekamah is also listed on the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum, and has earned the designation.
Thomas Ashford Scout Reservation: It serves a large area for Boy Scouts to have camping experience in a wilderness setting. Many visitors go to this area just to see and walk the many paths in the wilderness area. Also a site of an Indian Village.
Troll Stroll Nature Walk: Stroll a stone and wood chip path, 3/4 mile, over several man-made bridges. Twenty-four colorful wooden trolls are positioned along the way designed by Oakland-Craig School students. Free admission, open every day of the year, all day long. Uehling Park: Trapshoot area, two ballfields, fishing in Logan Creek. Located on the west edge of Uehling. Contact: Terri Hoeneman, 402-567-2292.
