The charming Creole town of New Roads, Louisiana is located just 35 minutes northwest of Baton Rouge on Louisiana Highway 1 and beautiful False River.

New Roads' Mardi Gras parades each follow a three mile-long route around downtown New Roads. The Carnival Club parade at 11 a.m. begins and ends near Rosenwald Elementary School, traveling New Roads, West Main, St. Mary, First, Poydras and Parent Streets. The Lions Club parade at 1:30 p.m. begins and ends near the National Guard Armory, traveling Mill, Community, Main, St. Mary, First, Poydras, Parent and New Roads Streets.

The Kings and Queens of the New Roads Mardi Gras unmask during the parades at their respective clubs' reviewing stands. Special marching band performances and judging of the floats for prizes also occur at the reviewing stands. The Carnival Club reviewing stand is located at the intersection of New Roads and Parent Streets. The Lions Club reviewing stand is on the courthouse square on East Main Street.

The center of all the activity for the New Roads Mardi Gras is on historic Main Street, from St. Mary Street to Alamo Street. There, parade-goers will find great restaurants and concession vendors offering local cuisine, souvenir vendors, the excitement of the Lions' $1,000 cash drawing and the antics of hilarious "Mardy Graw" street maskers. Plenty of off-street parking is available on Morrison Parkway on the False River lakefront and in numerous downtown parking lots.
