Why was this past Memorial Day so special? What happened to the 3 day let's getaway weekend? How come people were really pausing to remember? What has September 11th done to the psyche of our nation? 9,000 American soldiers died on the beaches of Normandy in one day. The remaining second World War soldiers and their families do remember. But the holiday has been celebrated more as the beginning of summer fun, rather than a nation's pause to remember it's heroes fallen in battle so far from our shores. Why did it take 3,000 lives lost in a matter of hours on our shores, to show us we have reason far greater than summer fun to take a serious pause and look inward? We want to remember. We want to know more of our history. We need to know why there are so many white crosses, marking the graves of this nation's greatest heroes, in other countries where they died, and in our national cemeteries like Arlington, VA. We are a great nation and we are free because so many gave so much to defend our civil and religious liberties. We need to remember that remember means DO NOT FORGET. When did it change? The record in the New Testament shows the Apostles kept Sabbath. Paul preached on Sabbath. Jesus spoke of an event that would take place in 70 AD and warned that the people should not flee on the Sabbath day. 40 years after the resurrection. Isaiah says the 7th day Sabbath will be kept throughout eternity. When and who changed the Sabbath? In a nutshell, the Papacy changed the Sabbath in the 4th century after Christ, from Saturday to Sunday. Why? Because the Pagan emperor of Rome Constantine became a Christian and he convinced the bishops at Rome that many pagans under his influence would fill the ranks of Christianity if only they would make concessions. Like getting rid of that 2nd commandment that forbid idol worship and changing Sabbath to Sunday, the Pagan day of worship. The Bishops at Rome reasoned, well Jesus rose on the first day of the week. No problem. They did what God would not and could not do. They deleted one commandment of God and changed another into a commandment of men. What does Jesus have to say about this? "IN VAIN DO THEY WORSHIP ME, TEACHING FOR DOCTRINES THE COMMANDMENTS OF MEN." What about God's Memorial Day. Why has it been forgotten? Rather, why do so many who profess to love Him, trample on His Memorial Day? He said Remember My Memorial Day but most have forgotten. Rather, most are not even aware that the enemy of souls has cleverly turned humanity into disobedience through ignorance. Hosea 4:6 says, "My people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge." We need to know the true history of what happened to cause this problem between the Creator and the created. We need to go back over 6,000 years to the dawn of Creation week. Following 6 literal days of Creation, God rested from His work of creation. But look closely at what He did next. He blessed the seventh day and made it Holy. 2,500 years before there was a Jew, God made His perpetual Memorial Day, the weekly Sabbath. We discover in the new testament, John 1:1-3,14 that Jesus as God was active in the creation. The 7th day Sabbath had Jesus as it's creator. It's not a Jewish Sabbath at all. It is in every way a Christian Sabbath. Christ made it, he kept it when He was made flesh and dwelt among us and scripture said He is Lord even of the Sabbath day. The seventh day is the Lord's Day. Not Sunday. Sunday has always been the day the Pagan's worshiped the sun. But where are all the Christians on Sabbath? They are busy doing everything except keeping this 24 hour appointment with God. How do they respond? Oh they say, my Sabbath is Sunday. But by who's authority? God never changed it. He says, "I am the Lord and I change not, neither do I alter the thing that has gone forth from My lips." And what do you say about God's Memorial Day? Maybe, "It doesn't really matter which day you keep holy as long as you keep one". WRONG! it matters. God said "Six days shalt thou labor and do all thy work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God...." The six days are Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. But the seventh day Saturday is God's Memorial day to His creation. It is His Sabbath and we are called by God to keep it. He said in Exodus 20:8 "REMEMBER the Sabbath Day..." But His people have forgotten. Our liberties are fast eroding, especially sine 9/11, and very soon the United States of America will pass a National Sunday law that will tear down the wall of separation between church and state. Satan hates God, he hates God's law and he especially hates God's Sabbath. But he is delighted to see you trample God's Sabbath, while keeping his day which he influenced man to make holy.
