SECRETARY ANTHONY PRINCIPI ADDRESSES CABINET STATUS
November 19, 2004

With the number of Cabinet resignations rising daily, the issue of whether to stay or go has become Topic A in agencies around Washington.

"It's on everybody's mind, who's staying, who's leaving?" said Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Anthony J. Principi. Asked about his plans, Principi said, "I really have not made a final decision. I love the agency, I love what I'm doing, I really need to sit down with the President within the next month or two, whenever he has some time to talk about the second term, what he might have in mind for me and then really make the decision. I'm not sure yet what to do." Secretary Principi said he's made significant changes at VA "and, of course, you'd like to see it through." Principi noted that the job saps energy, and he wants to make sure he has enough energy to finish the job.
