VA Nurse Specialty Certification Project

The NOVA subcommittee for the VA Nurse Specialty Certification Project continues hard at work to complete this complex task. A heartfelt THANK YOU to those dedicated committee members who have worked so hard with this group throughout 2009, to help us to arrive at this point in the project. We are now in the midst of the primary work of completing the 50+ Core Competencies. Ourdeadline is looming on the horizon, with just weeks left for us to complete this phase of our work.

As most of you know first-hand, our work has been complicated by some national level technological glitches. We are now back to our original teleconference Call-in and Access numbers. The schedule of remaining teleconference calls is as follows:

  • Wed, Oct 7th @ 1pm EST
  • Mon, Oct 19th @ 3pm EST
  • Wed, Nov 4th @ 1pm EST
  • Mon, Nov 16th @ 3pm EST
  • Wed, Dec 2nd @ 1pm EST

Although committee members report inconsistent abilities to access e-mails and attachments, we will continue to send e-mails to allow those who CAN access it, to allow them to continue in their work groups. We will also continue to use NOVA e-News. Visit our website http://www.vanurse.org to check for updates to our Message Board for interim updates and a myriad of more details. We are also working to set up a website so that we may upload/download working documents that have previously been sent via e-mail.

The primary e-mail address for this project is that of the Chair: klehman93@comcast.net. Individuals should work with your local IRM departments to access the available training to master the 2007 programs as quickly as possible. If you need assistance as an individual or work group, please contact Kathy Lehmann directly.
