Sharon Johnson, MSN, RNBC graduated from the Pennsylvania State University, University Park, Pennsylvania in 1974. She received her MSN June 1996 from Bowie State University and has been certified in Medical Surgical Nursing since 1987. She came to Maryland in January 1975 and began her career at the Johns Hopkins Hospital as a staff nurse in the Emergency Room. She then went to Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, MD. There she held many positions in the following roles: Head Nurse Surgical Unit, Case Manager Surgical Services, Preoperative Coordinator Surgical Clinical Center, Nurse Manager Geriatrics Long Term Care, Utilization Management Specialist.
Presently, she is the Acting Bed Coordinator/Nurse Team Leader for MCCR at the Maryland Healthcare Center. She has been a member of NOVA since the Chapter 218 was reactivated in 1993. During that time she's been a Board Member, Chapter President Elect and Chapter President. She has over 30 years of nursing experience to include staff nurse, management and instructor positions. Sharon co-presented a session at the NOVA meeting in Arizona discussing Geriatrics Long Term Care and participated in the NOVA Thespian Skit in Miami. She has developed educational offerings on home safety and medication administration that was offered at her church. She is active in the community thru her church and sorority.
