With over 200 Art Galleries in the city alone, you can stroll from gallery to gallery along the ancient streets. For "Anglo" art, walk down Canyon Road (easy stroll from downtown) - full of unique, quirky, and just plain fun art galleries. Other galleries are west and south of the Plaza in the downtown area itself.

Santa Fe is probably the best place in the world to shop for American Indian arts & crafts. Check out the Native American vendors on the "Portal" (accent on second syllable) in front of the Palace of Governors. Jewelry and pottery is inexpensive & authenticity guaranteed. Be cautious of vendors not on the Portal - as many pass off non-Indian junk as authentic.
For higher quality (and higher priced) Indian art, check the galleries clustered around the Plaza. Three reputable ones are:
Andrea Fisher Fine Pottery, 221 W. San Franciso, www.andreafisherpottery.com Packard's, 61 Old Santa Fe Trail (SE corner of Plaza), www.packards-santafe.com Ortega's on the Plaza, 101 W. San Francisco
