LONE WOLF WOODWORKS Postal Banks and Lamps

|
|
Being raised in the small town of Sleepy Hollow, NY I was afforded many opportunities to enjoy what nature had to offer. It was there that I began to take an interest in working with wood. There was an exotic woodshop not far from my house which I used to frequent. I began building small projects using whatever exotic was available. I was always amazed at the many different types, colors, and grain patterns of the wood.

I am now a retired Navy carpenter. In these past 20 years I have developed a greater appreciation for fine exotic woods and fine woodworking as I traveled the world from Greece to Africa and South America. Two decades and a whole lot of sawdust later, my dream has finally come true. I now run my own labor of love business creating treasures using exotic woods. Of course I also use some beautiful domestic lumber.

At the present, my main creations are banks made from old original U.S. Post Office lock box doors. Many of the doors that I use for my banks date back to the late 1800's, and early 1900's. All of these doors are in good working order, have a combination or key lock, and have been cleaned and well preserved. I try and keep them in as an original state as possible. All banks come with either a plain brass slot, or a beautiful engraved brass slot. Pricing is figured according to how old and rare the door is, the size of the bank, and how expensive the particular lumber is at the time. The list of lumber my banks can be made from is almost endless. Here are a few different types that I have used in the past that you may consider: Oak, Walnut, Maple, Poplar, Cedar, Pecan, Cherry, Zebra, Purpleheart, Yellowheart, Padauk, Bloodwood, Ebony, Bolivian Rosewood, Che-Chen, Granadillo, Lacewood, Canary, Bocote, etc

I always try and work with you to satisfy your needs. I will also be honest with you, some of my banks are expensive. The cost of exotic wood, the old doors, and the strict attention to detail that I put into each and every bank is well worth the investment. You will be buying a piece of history, and an heirloom that will last a lifetime. I will stand behind each and every bank I create!

The first step is to pick a door you like, a size, a type of wood, one of the two coin slots, and any particular numbers that you would like on the door, (some doors still have their original numbers). Once you figure all this out, contact me and I will quote you a price. My banks usually run anywhere from $45 up to $195. You can reach me by email at Dan Finerman . Below are a few items which I usually have in inventory.
