REGISTRATION DEADLINE FOR 1ST AMBASSADOR’S TOUR PROJECT EXTENDED TO MAY 31

New York, NEW YORK --- The deadline for registration for the 1st Ambassador’s and Consuls’ General Tour project to the Philippines has been extended to May 31, 2005. This was jointly announced today by Consul Cecilia Rebong and Tourism Director Emma Ruth Kitiyakara-Yulo. Rebong and Yulo said the extension was made to give chance to interested parties who missed the previous deadline of April 30.

The organizers have blocked 50 seats on Korean Air for the tour. As of 30 April, more than 20 individuals have registered for the tour, which will be highlighted by a lunch at Malacanang Palace and meeting with Her Excellency, President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, on July 14.

Arriving on July 13 via Korean Air from four departure points in the U.S (i.e., New York, Washington DC, San Francisco and Los Angeles), the tour participants’ itinerary on the following day (July 14) also includes a visit to the Philippine Central Bank Gold Coin Museum, Intramuros, and Luneta. Later in the day, the participants will be treated to a gala dinner with fashion show sponsored by the Philippine Department of Tourism at the Makati Shangri-la Hotel. On July 15, those who signed up for the optional out-of-town tours will begin the trip to their choice destination which can be any or a combination of the following top tourist spots: Cebu/Bohol, Palawan, Boracay/Corregidor, and Laguna Bay Loop.

The Association of Philippine Travel Agents (APTA) has been assisting the tour organizers in promoting the event. The participating APTA members include the following: Pacific Asia Leisure, Premier Travel, Corporate Travel, United Travel, Orientours, Edwards Travel, SAF Travel.Interested parties may contact and register through any of these travel agencies at www.aptaonline.org or e-mail alliancephil@aol.com or Tel.
