PHILIPPINE CONSULATE GENERAL - NEWS RELEASE

The Philippine Consulate General in New York is pleased to announce that the ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation and the Ugnayan at Tulong para sa Maralitang Pamilya (UGAT) Foundation are now accepting nominees for the Bayaning Pilipino Awards, now also known as the Gawad Geny Lopez, Jr., for 2005-2006. The awards are given to individuals in recognition of their invaluable service to the community. Deadline for submission of nomination(s) is September 15, 2005. Awards Night in the US will be on April 7, 2006 (Venue- to be announced).

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Open to all individual Filipinos based in the United States of America.
  • Nominees may be US citizen or legal residents of the US, who are of Filipino heritage.
CRITERIA

Success, industry and discipline: Has succeeded in one’s work however ordinary.
Moral Integrity and Social Responsibility: Has visible social consciousness and contribution. Has not been convicted of a crime with moral turpitude.
Extraordinary Achievement: Has noteworthy achievement worth of emulation, with or without previous recognition.
Proud of Filipino Heritage: Recognizes and respects the achievements of fellow Filipinos; has sense of Filipino language, tradition and culture.
Love for Family: Maintains a harmonious relationship.

MECHANICS
  • Entries will be based on nominations made by individuals who have sufficient knowledge of the nominee.
  • Nominating party must not be related to the nominee up to the third degree of consanguinity. SELF NOMINATIONS WILL NOT BE ENTERTAINED.
  • Nominating parties should submit a duly-accomplished nomination form with the necessary attachments and supporting documents, as necessary.
  • Three (3) names should be included as character references, with address and contact numbers.
