Pledge of Allegiance: Mae Ferguson

Business:
1. Budget Workshop.
Mayor Wheelwright: the North View Fire Agency’s budget was approved. Pleasant View City’s share, including the bond, is $299,728.66.
Four new full-time and one new part-time employee requests, employee benefits, and the COLA were discussed. Mayor Wheelwright recommended deleting the court/utility/receptionist position. Allocate funds to fill the public works assistant position with part-time employees instead of a full-time position. Fund a full-time building/zoning inspector, water assistant, and new police officer. The council requested for the next budget workshop a rough estimated of staff needs over a five year period, where we are now with employees, and the last time there was a major staff change.
Benefits were discussed. Mayor Wheelwright: we need to determine what percentage the city is going to fund and the cost and type of coverage. This can’t be resolved this year, but it will be addressed for the next year’s budget. I propose a 2% COLA, a 2% merit, that the city pay 100% of the premium, but discontinue the city paying the deductible.
The mayor’s and councilmember’s salaries were discussed. CM Call will submit a proposal for the next budget workshop.

Adjournment: 8:00 P.M.
