HOGS -N- HYDRANTS CHARITY SOFTBALL GAME
The Inaugural Hogs -n- Hydrants Charity Softball Game will take place at 6:00 p.m., on the evening of June 26, 2009. Played on the Weber High School baseball field, this new community event pits the Pleasant View Police Department against the North View Fire Department in a friendly game of softball while helping local charities raise much needed funds. The police are playing to benefit the Weber/Morgan Children's Justice Center and the fire department is playing to benefit the University of Utah Burn Camp. Both of these 501(c)(3) charities serve young residents of our community who become victims of life-altering situations. Of course, a year's worth of bragging rights and traveling trophy are at stake for the winning team!!!
Pre-game festivities begin promptly at 6:00 p.m., with a flag ceremony and player introductions. The NCAA National Champion Weber State Spirit Squad and Waldo will deliver the game ball. On hand for photos and autographs will be Olympic athletes and medalists. Surprise guests from the athletic and political arenas may also be attending. Radio stations will be broadcasting from the event and Weber State Men’s Basketball Coach Randy Rahe will play in the game as an “honorary police officer”.
To raise funds for the charities, tickets for the game may be obtained for a suggested donation of $2.00 per bleacher seat. Grass seating is free. All tickets include a drawing for great prizes from restaurants, recreation facilities and theaters. A Ducky Derby will follow the game with great prizes including a round of golf with Coach Randy Rahe at the Ogden Golf and Country Club and a round of golf with Coach Ron McBride at Ogden’s scenic Mt. Ogden Golf Course. Ducks for the derby may be purchased for $5.00 per duck. Food from Quizno’s and Pier 49 Pizza, along with Pepsi beverages and traditional baseball food like hot dogs and nachos will be available for purchase with all proceeds from the sale of food benefitting the charities. Come enjoy some quality family fun while supporting the public safety personnel who keep us safe!
