Rainbow of Knowledge is a California alternative school near Sanjose. Our school has a small private school environment that offers a balanced program for children ages 4.9 to 12 years old (Jr. Kindergarten through 5th grade). We offer an alternative school opportunity to other public and private schools in California. Our in-depth curriculum awakens the imagination, opens the heart,and engages the hands by developing the child's ability to think clearly, feel deeply, and act purposefully. We believe that students need to work in a supportive environment where they are not afraid to make mistakes. We believe in small class sizes where children can get the individual attention they need. We believe that staff needs to develop a connection with the parents and students they serve. We believe that an educational program needs to provide balance for its students. We incorporate a personal growth program for our students which emphasizes honesty, fairness, integrity, accountability, empowerment, and other important values. We incorporate an Ecology program that supports wildlife, natural resources, and a healthy environment. We help the students become successful, healthy, and happy children.

How do you know when it's time to find a new kind of education for your child? Does your child say he or she hates school? Does your child find it difficult to look at an adult in the eye or interact with children younger or older than they are?  Does your child come home from school tired or cranky?

Does your child come home complaining about conflicts that they've had in school and unfair situations that they've been exposed to? Has your child lost interest in creative expression through art, music, and dance? Has your child stopped reading for fun, or reading or writing for pleasure? Are your children just doing the minimum for home work and going off for some escapist activity? Does your child come home talking about anything exciting that happened at school that day?  Does your child seem fixated on designer labels and trendy clothes for school? Did the school suggest that your child has some strangethree lettered disease, like ADD, and that they should now be given Ritalin or some other drug?
