Baritone R. Hugh Patterson’s vocal career of over two decades includes numerous performances in oratorio and the recital stage. Mr. Patterson’s remarkable voice has been described as “…the ultimate true baritone: powerful, resonant, resilient, beautiful, reminiscent of Milnes in his prime.” He is most noted for his presentations of Mendelssohn’s Elijah, having toured with numerous orchestras in this role.
After a number of years as a choral conductor, the baritone has moved into the opera realm. Mr Patterson made his operatic debut singing the title role of Verdi’s Rigoletto for Florida Concert Opera, and has since added the roles of Valentine in Faust, Count Almaviva in Figaro, Escamillo in Carmen, Tonio in I Pagliacci, and Germont in La Traviata to his repertoire.
Mr. Patterson most recently made his first appearance as soloist with the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra.
