Anatomy of a Mattress
Each Sleep Set has Three Levels

Comfort- Comfort in a mattress comes from the foams and the fibers used in the upholstery layers above the innerspring. Special Fibers and responsive body conforming foams ease pressure points along the body, reducing tossing and turning and giving you a better night's sleep.

Innerspring- The innerspring is made from double-tempered steel coils and provides the support characteristics of a mattress. Innerspring units offer a number of different "coil counts"- the number of coils in the mattress. Actual coil count is generally based on a full-size mattress. Therefore, twin mattresses will have fewer coils while the kings and queens will have more. The coil count and wire thickness (or gauge) determine how much support the innerspring offers and its ability to evenly distribute weight.

Foundation- The foundation is the "base" of the sleep set works in unison with the mattress to provide proper support and durability. The foundation is designed to compliment the performance of the mattress. Purchasing just the mattress or foundation reduces the overall durability of the set.

Mattress Shopping Checklist
When shopping for a new mattress, your goal is to find a sleep set that will offer you the most comfort, support and value within your budget.

Use our Mattress Shopping Checklist to make sure you choose a mattress that works for you.

• Comfort—The old thinking was that beds had to be hard to be good for your back. The truth is that the modern foams and fibers used in today's premium mattresses actually enhance the support of the mattress, and are more comfortable as well. But the best way to find out if a mattress is comfortable to you is to try it out in the store.

• Support—The best mattress for your back is one that supports your spine at all points while allowing it to maintain its natural curve. The thickness of the coil wire in the innerspring and the number of coils determine the surface coverage and support the mattress will offer you.

• Durability—Today's sleep sets are more durable than ever before. But it's important to remember that mattresses today are designed as a set. Since it's the foundation that provides durability, you should look for a foundation with shock-absorbing support elements. Together, a new mattress and foundation will provide the best sleep set performance.

• Size—Considering that most people sleep better when a partner doesn't crowd them, you should buy the largest size mattress that fits in your bedroom and your budget. Mattresses come in four standard sizes: twin, full, queen and king. View the actual measurements of each mattress.

• Warranty—Always make sure that your new sleep set comes with a warranty that protects you against manufacturer defects. Romaine's Mattreess King products carry a 10-year, non-prorated warranty. Romaine's products do not need to be flipped in order for the manufacturers' warranty to stay in effect.

Use the tips below to make mattress shopping an enjoyable experience:
