The Jackson County Rosequeen Pageant began as an official event of the Jackson County Rose Festival in 1960. Jackson County's first Rosequeen crowned was Lynn Watson. The Rosequeen Pageant is an official franchise of the Miss Michigan Pageant and the Miss America Pageant. More than a half a million dollars in cash and in-kind scholarships has been awarded to contestants in the Rosequeen Pageant since it's inception to support the educational pursuits of the young women competing. This competition still continues today and the Rose Festival is proud to be a part of such a long-standing tradition.
