Sol Raiz Organics dual meaning represents spiritual enlightenment by the root of health (literally): Sol, in Spanish means “Sun” and is pronounced “Soul.” Raiz, in Spanish, means “Root” and is pronounced “Rise.” This name naturally combines the spiritual path of ascension while claiming “sun roots.” Since our maca is a root that grows above 14,000 ft. and is the only cultivatable crop at that altitude (closest to the sun), we feel it represents all the elements involved with organic sustainability for years to come.
Sol Raiz Organics is proud to offer the first complete maca-based product line directly from the Pampas de Junin, high in the Peruvian Andes. Each root that makes it’s way into our USDA certified organic facility is guaranteed 100% Lepidium Peruvianum Chacon (maca), an unsurpassable variety of it’s genus that is regarded amongst locals as the “Crown of the Andes.”
Other strains or varieties of this genus, fall under the broad categorization of Lepidium Meyenii Walpers and can be found as low as 8,000 ft. and scientifically are shown to have little to no nutritional value.
Sol Raiz Organics has a responsibility to our partners in Junin who work under some of the most extreme conditions on earth (above 14,000 ft. manual labor is intense) to offer the “Super-food” maca. It is at this elevation, in the Pampas de Junin, where the original variety of maca was passed from generations before. Other maca distributors who buy mass amounts of the readily available Lepidium Meyenii Walpers species that grows wild in lower elevations pose a serious threat to the patrimony of this sacred food source.
