Pedestrian jumps from Hwy 41 bridge into traffic

TOWN OF POLK- Washington County Sheriff's Deputies were called to USH 41 near the Highway 60 bridge for a pedestrian who dispatchers say jumped from the bridge and was hit by a semi tractor/trailer from Illinois. The pedestrian is alive and was transported to Froedtert Memorial Hospital.

Deputies were notified of the horrific event around 3:55 p.m. on Monday, February 19. They responded to the southbound lanes of Highway 41 and were met by Lifestar Ambulance.

Flight for Life Helicopter transported the victim to Froedtert Memorial Hospital.

Highway 41 near the scene of the crash was been closed for almost two hours but traffic is getting back to normal. This story will continue to be updated into the evening.

UPDATE
On February 28, 2007 The Washington County Sheriff's Department announced that the woman involved died from her injuries at Froedtert Memorial Hospital. The department ruled the death a suicide.
