KEWASKUM- A Campbellsport woman is in critical condition at Froedtert Hospital after injuries she sustained in a one-vehicle accident that occurred Tuesday evening, January 16 shortly before 8 p.m.

The accident took place on Highway 28 West, a quarter-mile east of Townline Road. Lynn Wernicke, 47, was driving westbound in the town of Kewaskum. From tire marks at the scene, it is believed she drifted into the eastbound lane and then the eastbound ditch where she hit a tree, head-on.

The victim was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital and instantly taken by Flight for Life helicopter to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee.

Washington County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by Wisconsin State Patrol. Sheriff Dale Schmidt stated his department is continuing their investigation but drugs and alcohol use is not being investigated as a cause.
