Merit Badges
This webpage was put together as a resource for the Scouts of Troop 35.
Merit Badges are divided into two groups -- Eagle-required and elective. For
each case, web links are provided to the latest requirements for each badge
(from the BSA National website), and to helpful worksheets (from the
Scouting Service Project website,
usscouts.org ). A list of
available Merit Badge counselors from within our Troop is also provided.
This list is based on information from Council dated February 11, 2009.
Any adults who have registered as Merit Badge
Counselors after that date should inform Mr. Satrape, and he will add them
to the list.
Of course, Scouts are encouraged to obtain and read, yes, READ, a copy
of the BSA Merit Badge book for any Merit Badge they are attempting to
earn. Believe it or not, this will help.
Eagle Required Merit Badges
To attain the rank of Eagle, a Scout must earn at least 21 Merit Badges.
Twelve of them must be from the list of Eagle-required badges given here.
The other nine are electives. Note that for Eagle rank, you must earn all
of the Merit Badges listed here, with the following exceptions:
(1) Only one is needed from this list: Lifesaving or Emergency Preparedness;
(2) Only one is needed from this list: Cycling, Hiking, or Swimming.

Elective Merit Badges
There are a total of 121 Merit Badges offered by the Boy Scouts of America. Only those for which
Troop 35 has counselors are listed here. For a complete list of Merit Badges, consult the
BSA National
website . If you would like to earn a Merit Badge not listed here, you may be able to earn
it as summer camp or at a Merit Badge Day offered occasionally through Council. You may also ask
Mr. Wehrlin, and he can attempt to find a counselor through Buckeye Council.
