We stopped in a neat little town, (Neumarkt in German-Egna in Italian) for lunch on our way to Venice. I really liked it. It had a quaint old town and a good lunch with an excellent waiter. On to Venice which is in the Northwest of Italy on the Adriatic Sea. We stayed at the Hotel Serenissima. The staff was very helpful and the breakfast was good.

I was surprised at the beauty of this city. I didn't expect to like it so much as I anticipated a tourist trap. I bought Cody a pair of boxers with the twig and berries on the front. He will love it. The tiramisu was the best I had in Italy. Tiramisu means pick me up in Italian and it has a colorful history. It has chocolate, coffee, marizpan and lady fingers in it. Yum.
The gondola ride was romantic for the couples in our group. I loved the view of the Grand Canal at night.
Italian men are so very helpful to a single american girl! I have learned to use the term "basta" in Venezia. I also pretend to not speak english when walking by myself. No hablo ingles.
