QDo you provide kitchen cabinets and countertops?
A Yes. Our cabinetry system is frequently specified for use in New York residential and commercial kitchens. However we do not act as a general contractor or become involved in providing appliances or fixtures. We will install our cabinets and counters according to specified clearances for appliances to be installed by others, but typically we deliver our materials for installation by a general contractor who will assume responsibility for coordinating all electric, plumbing, appliance and flooring issues.

QWhat geographical area do you service?
A We offer our cabinetry, furniture and interior design services throughout the New York City tri-state area. We measure, design and install.

Q How do I begin the interior design process?
A The furniture design process begins with a free consultation at our Manhattan furniture showroom where customers can examine our cabinets and furniture and view the many contemporary design options. Techline Studio New York is located in Manhattan at 35 East 19th Street. Call 212-674-1813 to schedule an appointment, or just drop in with a rough sketch of your room. We are open seven days a week: weekdays 10 to 6, Thursdays 10 to 8, Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5

 • Don't worry about your rough sketch. Our designers will begin the interior design process based on approximate dimensions. To the extent possible, sketch a floor plan (view from above) and elevation (frontal view) of your space with approximate measurements of walls, ceiling height, doors, windows, heating/air conditioner units, and floor moldings. Also record the dimensions of any equipment that will be incorporated into the furniture such as computers, printers, TVs, etc.

• In consultation with you, our design professionals will sketch a thoughtful furniture and cabinetry solution specific to your needs and give you a firm price.

Q Will techline Studio New York meet with me in my space and record the dimensions of my rooms and equipment?

A Yes. We encourage you to first visit our Manhattan furniture showroom to examine our cabinetry and our sample installations, and to assess the style, price points, and quality of our furniture products. By listening carefully and designing creatively, we arrive at an initial design and give you an accurate price quote. If you feel we have the right solution at the right price, we visit to measure your space and make notes of everything from the electrical outlets to the dimensions of your baseboard moldings.

To visit residences, we ask for a non-refundable $500 fee which is applied in full to your order. This fee is waived for commercial office space.

Q How might I save money if my project qualifies as a capital improvement?

A Built-in furniture and cabinetry qualilfying as a capital improvement can result in a significant reduction in sales tax. A capital improvement is defined by the NY State Department of Taxation and Finance as "an addition or alteration to real property that: a) substantially adds to the value of the real property or appreciably prolongs the useful life of the real property, and b) becomes part of the real property or is permanently affixed to the real property so that removal would cause material damage to the property or article itself, and c) is intended to become a permanent installation." If your project meets all three of these requirements you may request a certificate from us or go to www.nystax.govfor the proper form. Once signed and submitted to us, we can reduce the sales tax due on your project.

Q What special medical cabinets and medical casework do you offer for health care offices and hospitals?

A For over 20 years techline Studio has provided Manhattan and the New York City area with its flexible medical cabinetry system to create a comfortable atmosphere for patients and a functional work environment for the medical staff.  Our modular furniture and cabinetry system is used in New York healthcare facilities and hositals for exam rooms, nurse stations, reception desks, laboratories, and doctor's private offices or consultation rooms.  Medical cabinets and specialty items include prescription desks, form-holders, and trash doors for easy disposal of medical waste. Base cabinets are available at 36"ht. (standard counter height) or at the 34" ht. ADA height requirement for access by the physically handicapped. Q Why does buying modular techline furniture and cabinetry save money over traditional furniture?

A By designing with our extensive platform of pre-configured modular pieces, techline saves our clients money over the cost of all custom built pieces. Although our components can be manufactured to any size, we reduce costs by primarily designing with pre-configured cabinet dimensions. As required we will specify custom-sized pieces to attain the overall dimension required.

All our worksurfaces and countertops are custom-sized and can be field cut at end walls or around columns, pipes and other obstructions. Fitted filler scribes between cabinets and walls are provided for built-in installations. Working with a modular system allows our state-of-the-art factories to deliver the economies of scale of efficient manufacturing along with guaranteed, uniform quality. Replacement parts, if needed, are readily available, as are matching furniture items when expanding or reconfiguring. The long term benefit is that you purchase once and re-configure or add pieces as your needs change.

Q What if my space is an odd size or has obstructions?

A Our designers will design a solution to fit your space exactly. Where needed, we order specially-sized worksurfaces, panels, and cabinets. Our installers field cut counters into corners, around pipes, and over radiators. Filler scribes between cabinets and walls are sized for a built-in installation.

Q What about the quality of your products?

A Please visit our Manhattan furniture showroom to assess the quality of our products for yourself. Our contemporary furniture and cabinetry system is built to commercial grade standards and is of superior quality to most locally manufactured laminate products, or products available from closet companies and furniture chains. We use the same system of manufactured products for our commercial office installations as for residential interiors.

Some features that differentiate us include:

• All our standard laminate colors feature solid-color edgebanding to avoid
the self-edge (black line) condition frequently seen along the edges of
inferior laminate work. Our matching egdebanding gives our laminate work
the
appearance of a solid surface material.

• Cabinets are constructed of 3/4” thick material (not 5/8") with solid,
finished 3/4”backs. All edges are finished with solid color edgebanding.
All cabinets have finished back panels so they can be used
as stand alone pieces, or installed as conventional casework.

• All laminate countertops are solid 1-1/8" thick with high pressure laminate
(not melamine.). High-pressure laminate will stand up to years of heavy use.
All wood counters and wood doors are of solid wood.
 • All drawers use full extention ball-bearing metal drawer glides carrying a
100 pound load rating for box drawers, and 150 pounds for file drawers.

• Metal door hinges are concealed with six way adjustment for perfect
alignment and performance.
 • If any components are damaged, replacement parts are readily available from
our customer service department. Our warranty is 5 years on materials, 6 months on installation work.

Q How green is your product ?

A We are pleased to announce that our entire modular furniture and cabinetry system is now available with a renewable bamboo veneer finish on formaldehyde-free substrate. All board consists of a No added Urea Formaldehyde (NAUF) Core with a Plain Sliced Natural Veneer Bamboo adhered with Columbia Forest Products Purebond Adhesive. The veneer is adhered with a soy-based, formaldehyde free glue. A bamboo veneer edgeband is used on all exposed edges.

Our "greenest" countertop, PaperStone, is a beautiful and heavy-duty solid surface countertop material recommended for residential and commercial use. It is made from 100% post-consumer recycled paper and a proprietary, petroleum-free resin. It is the only solid surface material certified by the Forest Stewardship Council, Smartwood and the Rainforest Alliance. Specifying PaperStone can earn up to five LEED points.

Of all the environmental impact factors to consider, perhaps the most important is durability. More energy is expended in furniture fabrication than at any other stage. A cabinet that lasts 25 years will use far less energy overall than one that lasts 5, and the longer it will avoid disposal into our landfills or our air. At techlineStudio our products are manufactured for durability and a long life. Replacement parts, if needed, are readily available from our customer service department. That our products are easily movable and reconfigurable also adds to their life span. This flexibility allows the reuse of our furniture as our clients' needs change, reducing the need to discard existing furniture or to purchase new furniture.

Our laminate furniture product is constructed of wood panels made form 98% to 100% post industrial recycled content, meaning our panels are made almost entirely from the recovered scrap generated by other lumber industries. Our laminates are Green Guard certified for indoor air quality. Only solvent-free, water-based adhesives are used during the laminating process. Formaldehyde emissions are within the environmentally Preferable Product Certification standards. Furthermore, all our wood substrates are completely sealed.

In addition to our laminate, bamboo veneer, and solid wood counter tops, we continue to add countertops derived from recovered or sustainably harvested materials such as Dura Palm, Ply Boo, Richlite, and Paperstone. We will continue to explore and introduce sustainable and recycled materials into our products wherever practical.
