OCEAN PARK - Virginia (Burkhammer) Castilleja, 69, of Ocean Park, WA, passed away Sunday Sept. 27th, 2009. She was born December 29th, 1939 in Gotham, WI to Kenneth and Marcella (Cisewski) Burkhammer. She leaves behind one son, ten stepchildren, 21 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
She worked various jobs but enjoyed working as a caregiver to friends and homemaker to husband Victor of 35 years.
She enjoyed various activities throughout her life, but enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, taking them camping and fishing. She also had a passion for crocheting, the ability to make gorgeous dolls and blankets, even trying her hand at cabbage patch dolls for her granddaughters. She provided great insight for life, encouragement and a listening ear. She had a love of animals, raising birds for a time and her love of her lap dogs, poodles and yorkies. She treated them as her children, requesting her yorkie "Bodie's" ashes be released with her.
Victor and Virginia moved to Ocean Park from Yakima more than 15 years ago. She loved the ocean and found peace and encouragement taking walks on the beach, looking for marina to collect. She especially liked the glass balls. She loved the ocean so much her final wish was to have her ashes spread at the beach where she spent so much of her time walking and sitting watching the waves come in.
Family members will release her and her beloved "Bodie's" ashes back to the sea on October 3rd, 2009. Send condolences at www.valleyhillsfh.com.
Peace to Keith, Chris, Susie, Marcus, Dani and Alex. We know that times like this truly test our strength. I wish peace for all of you.
Memory of Virginia is kindness and spunk. She helped our family out when we really needed it. She didn't take anything off of anyone. She took care of the weak and didn't want anything for it.
Peace and love to my neices and nephew, I love you.
