She passed away at 6:25 AM on Wednesday, October 10, 2007 in Virginia Mason Hospital after a battle with cancer, and she went home to be with her Lord and Savior – Jesus Christ. Her devoutness of faith and her strength given of the Lord allowed her to join the Lord without fear. There are those who will miss her, but take comfort in knowing that she is now with the Lord and no longer in pain.
To say that she is one of the strongest and most honorable women that I have known would not do her justice. She was devoted in her faith in the Lord and a loving wife.
Kathy was born in Columbus, Kansas and moved to Yakima, Washington in 1965. She graduated from West Valley High School in 1973. She has worked in the electronics industry mostly; in companies like Tektronics, Epson Portland, Inc., and Irwin Research and Development to name a few. She has always received high honors and accolades for any position that she held. The last few years she has been in customer support for Tree Top, Inc. in Selah, Washington.
She loved the outdoors as well, with hobbies such as Horseback riding and Bicycling. She won a few ribbons for her riding skill on the horse, and was able to complete many sanctioned rides such as the Seattle to Portland Bicycle Classic, and the Rainier Ale Metric Century. Because of her many talents and abilities, she will be very sorely missed.
Surviving her are husband, Mitchell Smith; parents, Marlene Amos and Robert Amos; a brother, Jerry Amos, all of Yakima; and two sisters, Gina Blomberg in Vancouver, Washington, and Sherry Harris in Wichita, Kansas.
Since Kathy was a member of this church in her honor a memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Calvary Chapel Yakima Valley; 1021 S. 40th Avenue, Suite 7; Yakima, WA 98902.
