NATURAL BEAUTY ROADS
Michigan Public Act 451 of 1994 authorizesthe Natural Beauty Roads program which identifies and preservesin a natural, essentially undisturbed condition, certaincounty-local roads. County road commissions are empowered todedicate these roads (not collector or primary roads) as NaturalBeauty Roads. At least twenty-five landowners in theTownship, not only residents of the road, may apply by petitionto the Ingham County Road Commission for such designation. Toqualify as a natural beauty road, the road must have outstandingnatural features along its borders, including native trees andother native vegetation such as shrubs and wildflowers, and openareas with scenic or natural vistas which set the road apart asbeing unique and distinct. Within six months of receiving petitions from concerned township residents, the Road Commission must hold a public hearing to consider the designation, and announce its decision within thirty days of the hearing. We would like to work with you to designate a road. If interested in working on this project, contact the Township office for a sample petition and more information.

SNOW PLOWING / MAILBOXES
All roads in Williamstown Township are owned and maintained by the Ingham County Road Commission, and they do all of their own scheduling of plowing and salting. Their e-mail address is: roads@inghamcrc.org. Make sure you install your mailbox outside the shoulder or beyond the curb and keep your post and box in good condition. Should your mailbox become victim to a snowplowing accident, please contact the ICRC to follow up on the situation. The ICRC will pay up to $10.00 per mailbox and/ or post, if they are at fault.
- Pile snow behind the curb or shoulder on your side of the road - shoveling or plowing snow from driveways into or across roads is illegal and can be hazardous to motorists.
- You must remove your vehicle from the roadway when a winter storm is forecast - cars left in the roadways that interfere with plowing may be towed or ticketed.
