French Louis XVI
Directoire Transitional Secretaire a Abbatant
in solid Walnut.
The lid lowers to reveal drawers, cubbies,
and shelves along with the original leather
topped writing surface.
This is a high quality piece, with a beveled
top and nicely molded side panels. While the
carved fluted columns are typical of Louis XVI,
they terminate at the bottom in uncarved and
comparatively squat feet, a hallmark of the
emerging Directoire style.
