Remarkably, the original beveled edge top is one solid piece of walnut.

The front feet are in remarkable original condition, due largely to the fact that the original cabinet maker knowingly used especially dense and tightly grained walnut for these parts. Even the back feet are carved, which is a sign of superior quality.

All drawer internals are in excellent original condition, and each drawer has a working lock (key included).

This piece has gorgeous wood, a beautiful patina, and is in excellent sturdy condition. All drawers open and close smoothly. In terms of overall aesthetic, this piece is an iconic quality example of early to mid 18th century French Provincial Commodes.
