Database Underlying the EZ-Catalog and Checkout Were Upgraded.

On November 13, 2002, the database underlying the EZ-Catalog and the shopping cart was switched to a new storage method and design. The new database is a MySQL relational database. This upgrade is part of a project to upgrade the entire ecommerce tools. We have been working hard on this upgrade for the last 18 months.

We purposely made little if any changes to the interface that you see. Thus, you may not notice any difference. We did this so that we can focus our attention to a very small number of programs. While not obvious, this is an enormous change. It will allow us to make some significant enhancements to the how the catalog looks and functions over the next several months. Please refer to the October EZ-NetAdvantage for more details about the upgrade.

This new database design and structure is significantly more stable and flexible that the old system. We have a created a base that will serve you, our customers for years to come.

Note. This is one change that you will be able to see shortly. In a few days we will be upgrading the Order Statistics tool. This new database will capture and retain the shopping cart data. Thus, you will be able to see abandoned shopping carts to see what people have been looking at. You will also be able to see where in the shopping process they left.
