Shipping Calculator Now Available in Shopping Cart
Shopping cart with shipping calculation
On October 27, 2010, the EZ-NetTools shopping cart was upgraded with the option to display an estimate of the shipping charges for the order. Customers no longer have to wait until they have entered their address into the checkout process to see what the shipping charges will be. This new feature still requires that the customer enter their zipcode to compute the estimated shipping charges.

This feature will be a boon to potential customers that are wary of putting in their private information before they can see what the shipping charges will be. This feature will give your web site a little edge in wooing reluctant shoppers.

This calculation in the shopping cart is an estimate because some of the information entered in the address section of the shopping cart can affect the shipping calculation. For example, if you are using the UPS shipping calculation, the shipping cost is different if the customer puts a value in the organization field. In this case the UPS shipping calculator with assume the address is a business address rather than a residential address which results in a different shipping rate.

This feature must be configured in the catalog configure tool, under the shopping cart options. This feature is only available if you are using the 0100 shopping cart option. The default configuration is to NOT show this feature in the shopping cart. You must activate the feature.

Configuration option for shipping in cart
The calculator works on all shipping methods. However, it will only work for destinations in the United States and Canada.
